Jenny Brown, CFP  SSA  Dip FP MAICD is Head of Strategy, Senior Financial Adviser and Director of JBS.  She is a SMSF Specialist Adviser ™ (SSA), with 20 years’ experience in the financial planning industry.  She holds the Diploma of Financial Planning and is recognised as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) by the Financial Planning Association of Australia.  Jenny holds an ASX Accreditation in providing advice in Direct Equities. She is a founding member of the Superannuation Professionals Association of Australia (SPAA), an Associate Member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA), member of Association of Financial Advisers (AFA), the National Tax and Accountants Association (NTAA), Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and a qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) since 2000. Jenny is a Sub-Authorised Representative (250844) of the corporate JBS Financial Strategists.  JBS is a Corporate Authorised Representative (252571) of PIS.  JBS is part of the Professional Private Advice group of advisers. Jenny was awarded runner up Financial Planner of the Year for 2010 by Professional Investment Services and was admitted to the Platinum Club in 2008, qualifying again in each of 2009, 2010 & 2011. Her concentration is in the creation of long-term wealth and strategies for all of our clients by helping create and manage wealth strategies for high net worth, small business owners, business executives, and Gen Y clients, and is the key contact within the organisation.  Jenny provides advice on debt management strategies, ensuring the correct finance structure is in place to enable strategies to be implemented to reduce non-tax deductible debt quickly and at the same time build long-term wealth.  She focuses on structuring client’s loans (mortgage, investment loans etc.) to ensure they are effective.  Her advice covers a wide spectrum of investment opportunities, including both innovative and traditional products.  Correct structure and ownership of insurance policies is also critical when analysing a client’s situation.  Her accreditation and specialist knowledge in the SMSF field sets her apart from her peers. Jenny consults on a regular basis to Financial Advisers, Accountants and their clients both locally and nationally in the complex area of Self-Managed Superannuation.

Gurbinder Gill, B.Mgmt, AFP, ADFS(FP) has recently joined JBS as a Senior Financial Adviser, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge in the Financial Planning Industry.  Gurbinder holds a Bachelor of Management, an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning), as well as the Registered Financial Planner certification from The Malaysian Financial Planning Council. Gurbinder is a Sub Authorised Representative (314371) of the Corporate JBS Financial Strategists. JBS is a Corporate Authorised Representative (252 571) of PIS. JBS is part of the Professional Private Advice group of advisers. Gurbinder has over 16 years’ experience in the industry, having spent 12 years working in Malaysia before moving to Australia in 2007. He speaks fluent Punjabi, Hindi, Malay and Indonesian. Gurbinder is responsible for providing business development to the practice, with extensive expertise in Risk Insurance and Business Succession Planning for SME’s. He is skilled in providing strategic and investment advice in the SMSF area, with his skills complementing the SMSF area of the business. He is accredited to provide advice in relation to Direct Shares. Gurbinder is an honest and hardworking individual who brings an extensive skill set to round off the JBS team, but don’t let the seriousness of the industry fool you, he also likes a good laugh!  He enjoys cricket, footy and soccer, and is a keen golfer who is currently struggling at the mid-twenties handicap!

Elly Parker, BA (Media&Comm), AdvDipBus joined JBS as our Practice Manager in March 2010.  Elly is responsible for the overall running of the office, building and maintaining client relationships, and all marketing and communication activities. Elly comes to JBS from a Professional Services background and has 10 years of extensive experience of high level executive support, and has performed marketing and communications functions for both small and large organisations.

David Novotny, B.Bus.FinPlan is our SMSF Manager and joined JBS in November 2004 after successfully completing his Bachelor of Business in Financial Planning degree with Distinction. David is responsible for the management, compliance and administration of the SMSF arm of the business, as well as Review preparation and communicating new investment opportunities.  David works closely with Jenny in all matters relating to SMSF advice including strategy planning and implementation. David is a Sub-Authorised Representative (296839) of the corporate JBS Financial Strategists.  JBS is a Corporate Authorised Representative (252571) of Professional Investment Services. Holding an ASX Accreditation to provide advice in Direct Equities, David is well positioned to answer all clients’ queries in this area.  His friendly and approachable nature, teamed with his high level of attention to detail and extensive industry knowledge assures that all client enquiries are handled with skill and diligence. While being highly knowledgeable in the SMSF field, David is currently extending his knowledge and accreditation in the financial planning field with the aim of becoming a SMSF Specialist Adviser™ (SSA).

Glenn Malkiewicz, B.Bus.FinPlan heads up our Superannuation & Risk division and is responsible for the preparation of investment and retirement plans.  He has over 8 years’ experience working with clients in the areas of Investment Advice, Superannuation and Retirement Advice, and Risk Advice, and has a strong knowledge in the area of finance structures. Glenn brings with him wide experience and knowledge which ensures we remain technically sound in Financial Planning.  He is always accessible to all clients who have planning or administrative concerns and his impeccable customer service and attention to detail assures that all enquiries are handled with skill and diligence.  Glenn also assists in providing research and technical support for the team at JBS.  Glenn holds an ASX Accreditation in providing advice in Direct Equities. Glenn is a Sub-Authorised Representative (320603) of the corporate JBS Financial Strategists.  JBS is a Corporate Authorised Representative (252571) of Professional Investment Services. Glenn was awarded the 2010 PIS Victorian Para-Planner of the Year.

Brendan Elkins, B.Bus Mgt has over 25 years of executive experience with some of Australia’s largest and most respected businesses. Bringing this knowledge to the financial services industry and the JBS team specifically, he is uniquely positioned to consult on a range of Human Resource, Industrial Relations, and Strategic Management issues with our clients for the improvement of their business.  His general business acumen has proved invaluable - both by rounding out the JBS skill set, and offering a fresh perspective to clients in their personal wealth situations. Evelyn McLaren, BBus  DipFS  CPA  NTAA. joined the JBS team in 2007 as our Financial Controller.  She has a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and Computing, a Diploma of Financial Services and is a Certified Practicing Accountant.  Evelyn is a member of both the CPA (Certified Practicing Accountants) and NTAA (National Tax and Accountants Association) and has a Tax Agents Licence. Evelyn is responsible for ensuring that the Self Managed Super Funds JBS manage are compliant from an Audit and Accounting overview.  She works closely with both Jenny and David and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise to this division of JBS. Evelyn also works with a large Public Accountancy Practice managing a wide variety of clients ensuring that their businesses and accounts are compliant with the ATO guidelines.

Mathew Barr, ASFA Cert IV in Financial Services (Superannuation) is in a Client Services role in the Risk Insurance area where he is responsible for the administration and management of the clients and their individual needs.  Mathew's high level of understanding and attention to detail greatly assists in effectively liasing between our clients and insurance companies to ensure the best possible outcome for our clients from the onset. Mat brings great value to the business, having recently completed the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia Limited (ASFA) Cert IV in Financial Services (Superannuation), is currently undertaking the RG146 course, and has a solid background in Superannuation administration in both Australia and New Zealand.

Lorie McDonald BA (Eng&Comm) is our Client Services Representative in the Self Managed Super Fund division.  Lorie assists David with client services and administration for the SMSFs, and provides support across the practice.  Lorie has a strong administrative background, and this teamed with her cheery disposition and strong attention to detail makes her a valuable member of the JBS team. Lorie is generally your first point of contact when contacting JBS, either by phone or at meetings in our office, and is happy to assist with all inquiries.

Andy Lay, B.Bus.FinPlan recently joined us in a Client Services role in the Superannuation, Investment & Finance and Salary Packaging areas where he is responsible for the administration and management of clients. Andy is a recent graduate who keen to put his passion  for financial planning into action, and his enthusiasm is second to none!   Andy's extensive retail management experience has equip him with superior customer service skills, and Andy will be happy to help with any inquiry you have in order to provide the best possible outcomes for clients.

Adam McKenzie joined the JBS team at the beginning of 2008 and works with us part time while completing a Bachelor of Banking and Finance / International Trade. Adam is involved in a broad range of tasks across the business including the compilation of client reviews for our Self-Managed Superannuation Funds and updating the SMSF investment information on our online and accounting platforms in preparation for tax returns and for clients to view. Adam has recently become involved in the development and enhancement of excel calculators and automatic reporting tools which are used to gain in-depth reports and snap shots of the business functionality and productivity, and provide a comprehensive tool for measuring operational performance.

Julie Hyde, Cert IV in Coaching, Dip Coaching joined the JBS team in 2008 as our Business Development Manager.  She comes to us from a strong finance background having worked within one of the 4 major banks for 20 years.  More recently she has been consulting to a range of corporate and SME’s in regards to leadership, team and client service proposition. Julie’s focus is on developing the skills systems and process for the individual to be successful within the business.
